World Affairs Forum 14.11.2016 - Germany-EU-Finland: Current issues in our society and economy

The European Union has been facing several societal and economic crisis and challenges during recent years. The political systems and democracy in general have been challenged. What is the current societal and economic outlook for Germany at the moment? How does Germany see the future of the European Union? What challenges does Finland on the other hand face, and how can we continue to develop our society and economy?

Germany-EU-Finland: Current issues in the German society and economy, with reference to EU and Finland

H.E. Dorothee Janetzke-Wenzel has been the German Ambassador to Finland since September 2014. She first entered the German Federal Foreign Office in 1984, where she has served in various positions. She has served in several German Embassies around the globe, including Austria, USA Tanzania and Nigeria. Her latest assignment before entering Finland, was the German Ambassador to Hungary. She completed her Diploma at Heidelberg University in Germany, and M.A. Degree at the University of Wisconsin, USA.
 
In her presentation, Dorothee Janetzke-Wenzel will discuss the current societal and economic issues in Germany, with reference to the European Union. She will also discuss the Germany-EU-Finland relations in light of the current challenges that the union is facing.


 

Germany-EU-Finland: Current issues in the Finnish society and economy, with reference to EU and Germany

Tytti Tuppurainen was elected Member of the Parliament in 2011 in the Social Democratic Parliamentary Group. She is currently the Second Vice Chair of the Grand Committee of the Parliament, and a member of the Agriculture and Forestry Committee. She also serves as the Vice-chairperson of the UN Association of Finland, and the Chair of the Finnish-German Parliamentary Friendship Group. Previously she has worked as R&D coordinator in Oulu University of Applied Sciences, and as Managing Director for Oulun Ekotuote Ltd. She completed her Master of Arts degree in the University of Oulu in 2003.
