5G micro-operator business models to be investigated

Tekes,  the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation has decided to provide continuing funding until the end of 2018 for a Challenge Finland project addressing the emerging wireless 5G micro-operators. In the project that started in June 2016, Martti Ahtisaari Institute focuses on micro-operator business models and earning logic.

Micro-operators are expected to change not only the management of wireless 5G networks, but also affect remarkably on service architectures, as well as the contents of services and the role of end-users.

The project is led by the academy professor Matti Latva-aho of Centre for Wireless Communications CWC, University of Oulu.
